Hello! my name is Carolin Vedder. I am a motion designer and creative director working across motion branding, film and TV titles, and experiential formats.
My work builds identity through time: pacing, rhythm, transition design, and the precise orchestration of attention across sequences, platforms, and environments.
I began in illustration, graphic design, and photography, where composition and contrast shaped my visual foundation. In 1999 I moved into motion design at MTV Networks in New York and I worked in temporal design ever since, creating channel identities, campaigns, title sequences, exhibitions, and immersive formats for broadcasters, brands, and cultural institutions. Clients include MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, ORF, ZDF, VIVA, Pro7Sat1, ARD, Siemens, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW, Douglas x Peter Lindbergh, Universal Music, Sony Music, Prime, and CERN.
My practice centers on how meaning forms over time. Motion design rarely succeeds through form alone. It succeeds through timing decisions that guide expectation, memory, and resolution. That focus makes my work particularly effective for brand systems in motion, title design, and experiences where audiences encounter identity as a full sensory sequence rather than a single visual asset.
Alongside client work, I research perception across modalities, drawing on neuroscience and crossmodal integration. This research informs motion branding as a practical advantage: clearer control over salience, sensory weighting, and the way context shifts interpretation.
I also applies futures thinking to anticipate how attention, media behavior, and cultural conditions reshape what motion design must deliver next, especially for brands and broadcasters.
Education includes Marketing & Advertising at the School of Visual Arts in New York, Design & Photography at Merz Akademie Stuttgart, a Diploma in Design & Art History from Frankfurter Akademie für Kommunikation und Design, Fundamentals of Neuroscience certification from Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences Online, neuroscience and cognitive studies via MIT OpenCourseWare, and Futures Thinking certification from University of Cambridge ICE.
Focus areas: motion branding and channel identity, film and TV titles, experiential and immersive motion systems, strategic design direction for time-based media
